PARALLEL LINES
I was waking up inside a life
that fit my name but not my….skin
Doing the things that look like winning
from the outside….in
I was moving forward,
at the same speed as everyone I loved
but my heart was walking, one step sideways
with a truth I didn’t know yet
Maybe this is it, maybe this is all I get
maybe I should be grateful
and quiet
and smaller

But every time I closed my eyes
there it was again
another life line running next to mine

I was living on a parallel line
running close, never crossing….through
Watching the life
I was meant to be in
from the wrong side of me. Two lives…
two lives
side by side
two lines
Side
By
Side
I started seeing how,
my breath changed when I told the truth
That my body leaned forward now,
before my brain said no

I was living on a parallel line
running close, never crossing….through
Watching the life
I was meant to be in
from the wrong side of me. Two lives…
two lives
side by side
two lines
Side
By
Side

Some people will never,
leave the line they’re born on
They think it’s forever,
That it will keep them safe
I was living on a parallel line
until I chose
To jump
I was living on a parallel line
until I chose
To jump
I was living on a parallel line
until I chose
To jump
until I chose
To jump!
We gotta Jump!
We gotta Jump!
We gotta Jump!
Everybody jump!
I was living on a parallel line
running close, never crossing….through
Watching the life
I was meant to be in
from the wrong side of me. Two lives…
two lives
side by side
We gotta Jump!
We gotta Jump!
We gotta Jump!
Side by side!
Everybody jump!
Side by side!
Everybody jump!
Side by side
